Let the games begin
Here we go:
The Democratic Left Alliance will field Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz as its candidate in this year's presidential elections.
Well, he's boring. But he's clean and experienced.
And pretty astute, too:
Sejm Speaker shuns meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister
During Sejm Speaker Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz's official visit to Lithuania his refusal to meet with Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister Anatanas Valionis aroused a great deal of controversy. The Lietuvos Zinios daily emphasized that Cimoszewicz preferred to make a trip to the museum of KGB victims instead of meeting the minister. It has been suggested that Cimoszewicz's decision was caused by recent news that Valionis used to be a KGB officer. Justinas Karosas, the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Committee, stated that Cimoszewicz, "Wanted to avoid the possible interpretations of this meeting," and for this reason did not want to talk with Valionis. However, Cimoszewicz dismissed such explanations are groundless. "We did not plan any meeting with Anatanas Valionis, but we did have a telephone conversation," he said. Earlier on the Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Ministry announced that the ministers' meeting did not take place because of the, "busy schedules of the two politicians."

What time is it in Poland
Party time!
Well, you can see what time it is every time you post a comment.
But for future reference, Poland is in the Central European time zone. That's one hour later than London, and in the same time zone as Paris, Berlin, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna, etc. It's one hour behind Kiev and Helsinki, and 2 hours behind Moscow and Bagdad. I believe we're 8 hours behind Tokyo.
That means its 7 hours ahead of Dallas, and you, RT. That's 6 hours ahead of New York and Detroit, and 9 hours ahead of Los Angeles and Seattle.
Here's a time zone map to help you out.
Yes, well..my point being there was a link to a webclock blog add-on, that could be configured to a certain time zone, not locked into vistor's computer clock.
Poland has been getting some bad press here lately
Hey....nice clock you got there.
Hat tip goes out to the Texan.
Wish it had a few more customizing options, but this one will do for now. You don't have to wonder any longer, RT.
Bad press:
I read the article, and they get it mostly right. But the Poles are famous for their malaise, so you have to take the grumpiness with a grain of salt.
They drop the ball on the "oil-scandal" issue, though. It's really quite important. Perhaps not because a famous oligarch offered to peddle his influence with the government to a Russian spy so that a Russian company would gain favorable terms in the sale of one of Poland's most profitable refineries-- although that's quite something, in spite of the transaction never coming to fruition-- but because that influence-peddling may have led the President to use his command over the secret service to improperly arrest and imprison the CEO of a state oil company.
That's worth an investigation, I think.
